Hi Martin,

Just came across your blog by chance.

Fair play for thinking it through and making a decision that you've stuck with.

I did the Embreonix program in 04-05 between starting and completing my MSc in Computer Games Technology (03-04 and then dissertation 05-06|). It was an interesting experience at the time however I would say that a year overseas like you spent in Tokyo might have been a more enriching experience overall.

I too went to create my own game (well prototype the worlds first game aimed at fitness - I was making it for the eye toy) however I found it difficult on my own.

An excellent book to read could be '10 Thing to Know before you Quit your job' by R. Kiwosaki.

All the Best and sure drop me a line if you want to chat...

Back to work (I'm a Software Dev in Belfast now with 4+ years experience - non games ;) )

Cheers

I overcame problem of burn failed this way: set burnning speed lower than the failed speed. My DVD burn failed at speed x4, I changed to x2 and it burn succesfully.

Regarding Step 9...

I too discovered when trying to burn the DVD it would fail every time.. or so it seemed. After tossing a couple of what I thought were wasted DVDs I decided to try playing the 3rd. Oddly enough it worked just fine! I don't guarantee this will work for anyone but me but though it shows as failure, each DVD seems to work just fine. Menus work, audio sync works. I think it's just a glitch that I can easily live with since this is one of the better burning apps I've tried. It's simple and has all the features of that mere mortals actually use.

Enjoyed this - you have a good point. The world is so full of peoples ramblings, it's hard to believe sometimes how the Internet - arguably the greatest communication tool given to man is wasted on people who don't really have that much to say! We now live in a world full of digital pollution....
